If you think your child is having problems with focusing and attention, getting a psychological assessment is the first step. A psychological assessment is performed by a psychologist and evaluates your child's intelligence, strengths, and weaknesses, and makes specific, non-medication recommendations to help your child be more successful.

A psychologcal assessment may be done at school or at a private office. At-school assessments are also done to evaluate your child for educational needs, which might include co-taught classes and special education, just to name a couple.

Our trained professional staff will review your child's initial psychological assessment. After your child's psychological assessment, we may ask for more information before scheduling an appointment to review everything and discuss treatment options.

In cooperation with community-based mental health providers, we evaluate and treat children for behavior concerns and school problems including:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• And other mental health conditions

Our practice provides a comprehensive asthma and allergy management program for our patients. Our providers are trained in the management of childhood asthma and allergies.

Our providers here at DV Pediatrics have been working hard with ECHO Autism Communities and their Project ECHO to become certified to perform ECHO Autism Early Diagnostic Evaluations.

If your child has a disability or a chronic illness, your journey may feel like the road less traveled. You probably have interactions with many different professionals and specialists. You need information, assistance, understanding, and support.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends not piercing your child's ears until they are old enough to care for the piercing site themselves. However, if you insist on piercing your child's ears, we will happily help you with it once they are at least 3 months old.

Waiting until children are at least 3 months old ensures protection from their first set of vaccines. Waiting until at least 3 months of age also gives time for the ears to grow big enough to allow for accurate placing of the earring. We want to make sure that this elective procedure carries as little risk to your child as possible. 

We like to begin your newborn care within 1-2 days of hispital discharge and have our professional team continue as an integral part of the comprehensive care provided to your child!

Regular physicals are an important part of preventative pediatric care. Getting your child a sports physical gives our provider the opportunity to examine your child, evaluate their health and fitness, and determine whether or not they are prepared for sports or school activities.
